“Newcastle College’s Railway Academy proves to attract national interest”

The UK’s North East is focusing its efforts on improving the quality of railway education and engaging with students in order to meet the skills demand of this rapidly growing sector. The Rail Academy is one of Newcastle College’s latest developments and has attracted a lot of interest despite its opening being in September 2014. Several applications are received on a daily basis from individuals of all ages who wish to pursue a career within the sector and even those who already operate within the sector but wish to up skill or cross skill.

With regards to practical learning the site is located within proximity of several heritage rail sites, which will allow students to gain valuable experience on live track. In order to ensure the classroom teaching is of an excellent standard the Rail Academy will work alongside the College to shape the curriculum.
