“A tri-national training center - the Two Koreas and Russia working together”

21th Jul 2014

Recent news show movements towards international collaboration with regards to developments within the railway industry. In this particular case, Korail, South Korea’s national railroad operator, has suggested setting up a training center that would include North Korea and Russia.

The project, which was proposed in Spring 2014, aims to share South Korea’s railway operating expertise and stimulate exchanges with North Korea and Russia. This relates to the importance of standardization of technology and terminology, which is vital for operating a railway that connects the three nations. Ultimately, the training center would instigate cooperation between the railway systems of the two Koreas, a major step towards future developments.
