Why did you choose to work for the rail industry?
I did not choose the railway industry: the railway industry chose me. My field of expertise being the review of critical embedded software, it was natural for me to be drawn to the review and validation of railway software.
What inspired you at the time and what influenced your choice?
I did not choose the railway industry: the railway industry chose me. My field of expertise being the review of critical embedded software, it was natural for me to be drawn to the review and validation of railway software.
How does it feel to be in the rail industry? Are your expectations fulfilled?
Working in the railway industry is fulfilling and/because it is challenging. The problems to overcome are diverse enough to last for a lifetime, and the increasing automation means this tendency is on the rise.
What are the challenges?
From my perspective, the challenges are: making the verification of the embedded software more amenable to automation, making the software rely more on its own calculation (dynamic evaluation of a situation) rather than a fixed set of terrain data.
What is a talent? Why the rail industry should engage with talents?
Talent is… is a person whose set of skills grounds the activities of a team/project, gives them a solid foundation. As such he is a cornerstone for either ensuring the success or, vision permitting, driving forward the innovation in that project. This is why talents are important.
