Germany: DB Netz has awarded SPL Powerlines a four-year framework worth €1bn covering the supply of aluminium support structures and ceramic insulators for overhead electrification on Hamburg S-Bahn extensions.
DB has awarded Rhomberg Bahntechnik and Swietelsky a €250m contract to supply 60 route-km of slab track and railway systems on the 250 km/h line being built between Wendlingen and Ulm as part of the project to reduce Stuttgart – Ulm journey times.
Guinea: CIM and British Steel are supplying rail and steel sleepers to modernise lines used by Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée, GAC and Rusal.
India: Ahmedabad metro project promoter MEGA has awarded Siemens a €76m contract to electrify of the first phase of the city’s metro network and supply Scada equipment.
Hungary: Strabag Vasútépítő and Belfry PE have won a HF62bn contract to modernise the 25 km Rákos – Gödöllő section of the Budapest – Miskolc main line and Swietelsky Vasúttechnika a HF65bn contract covering the 27 km Gödöllő – Hatvan section. Gödöllő station will be rebuilt with two extra tracks for terminating services.
Italy: RFI has awarded Bombardier a €31m contract for resignalling works in the Firenze area.
Milano transport operator ATM has put into service a Alstom Hesop 1·5 kV 4 MW reversible substation at Rogoredo station on metro line M3.
Kazakhstan: The KEP joint venture of Alstom and SOP is to undertake resignalling at 25 stations.
Poland: PKP PLK has awarded MGGP a 19·8m złoty contract to design the 1·7bn złoty rebuilding of the Białystok – Ełk single track electrified line by 2023 as a double track alignment suitable for 160 km/h running as part of the Rail Baltica project. TPF has a 2·6m złoty contract to undertake a feasibility study for upgrading the route from Ełk to Suwałki and the Lithuanian border, including construction of a bypass at Olecko and the relocation of Suwałki station to eliminate two reversals.
ZPS Stargard is to supply PKP PLK with 36 track maintenance vehicles with crew cabs and cranes for 154m złoty.
PKP PLK has awarded Thales a 850m złoty contract to install ETCS Level 2 on the Kunowice – Terespol corridor E20 and Level 1 on the Łowicz – Łuków freight bypass around Warszawa. Local control centres will be built in Rzepin and Zbąszynek, and existing ones modernised.

Spain: Installation of 25 kV 50 Hz electrification between Salamanca and Fuentes de Oñoro is to be undertaken by a joint venture of Enclavamientos y Señalización Ferroviarias and Sociedad Española de Montajes Industriales under a €31∙7m contract.
Turkey: Emre Ray Enerji İnşaat has won a contract to build a 2·2 km, four-stop western extension of the Izmit tram line to Plajyolu.
UK: Hochtief has been appointed to build Great Western Railway’s £40m Exeter Olds View rolling stock maintenance depot by mid-2019.
